Whoops! Only posting what the description was on Craigslist. Old school surfer, never skimboarder. Anyone else got any? Love to see some pics. PTD |

I purchased the following item on ebay, from the estate of Jack Lord. It is a United Airline placemat, with some tiki-themed illustrations along the edge. Best of all, it has various doodles and sketches done by Jack Lord himself, as he was thinking of ways to promote the 4th season of Hawai 5-0 -- which would date this placemat from 1971. I framed the placemat in a floating glass frame, as there were drawings on both sides. An overall shot, giving some perspective of scale. Those are dollar stores tikis on display below. The photo below is taken of the back side of the place mat. Vern |

Picked up this gorgeous set of "Cannibal Dinnerware" today at a local antique shoppe for only $10! They were carved in Ashland, Wisconsin, by a guy named Peter Mellick. I think they look more African influenced than Polynesian, possibly some Native American in there as well, and I have no idea if they're vintage or contemporary. What do y'all think? |

Hi Just thought I would show you my all time favorite Tiki ever. This one is by Dean Hetherington and is carved in the very traditional style of one of the South Island Iwi. It is carved from West Coast Pounamu (new Zealand Nephrite jade) Don |

I was out wandering around at lunch today and stopped by the local flea market to check things out. Friday is usually a pretty slow day and I don't find much. After being skunked for about five weeks on my Friday flea market lunches, I walked up to a table and found these things.
Behind the box of paper goods was this.
Behind some other liquor bottles I spied this.
And his buddy.
And their companions.
Not bad for an hour's time and $15.00! Psycho Tiki D (I know I am and even at lunch I am)! |

Sabu, That is the sad part of the story I left out from an otherwise jubilant day. I asked about the liquor and the lady selling these (and many other liquor bottles, though no more tiki) said as a licensed antique dealer as she once was, it was illegal for her to sell these with liquor in them, Hence they were full when she originally purchased them and poured all of the liquor out of all of the bottles she had purchased. Oh, the humanity! Thanks...the boxes are amazing and I have never seen them before. I am still pinching myself! PTD PS, Nice post on the Buffet thread...I apologize if I let my emotions get away from me. You said exactly what I was trying to say, only waaaaay nicer! |

Hey there, While searching one of the thrift shops here on the east coast, I spotted what looked to be a nice looking Tiki mask. Since I'm a newbie, I am so afraid I'm going to hear... not Tiki.. LOL The lighter parts of the mask are either brass or copper type detailed flashing(?) The back is hollowed out and becomes solid to the end to form a stand. Any feedback would be great. This is my first non-Ebay tiki find. (Well, hopefully) Loved to hear from the experts.. I can take more detailed pics if anyone needs them. Cheers! Rick [ Edited by: Bogielocks 2007-10-22 19:46 ] |

Thanks, I was afraid I'd hear that. I'll wait for a few more responses before it finds it's way to Ebay or something. Rick |

My rule when out in the wild, hunting for tiki treasures is; if you think even slighty that it might be African, don't buy it. Not saying that African art is bad at all, but... |
