here's some smalls from today's estate sale..... and I'm still reeling from this craigslist score - three rattan circular shelf units with glass shelves. The largest is 42" dia (I put a beer can in it for scale) - the other 2 are 36" and 30" dia. These might make a nice place to store booze on the wall behind the bar. and this chunk swag lamp I picked up...... |

For the last four years, I have been very curious about a painting my friend has hanging in his office. When I first asked him about it, he dismissed it as, "I'm not really even sure where that came from." Today I finally took a picture of it and did a google search on the artist. As it turns out "Richmond Kelly" went by "Dick Kelly" professionally, working as an art director at Walt Disney for several years (I'm sure many of you knew this, but I had no idea.) I'm sure my friend inherited the painting somehow from his own father, who was a Disney exec for several years. It's a great painting, and I love the framing. Even though my friend doesn't "know anything about it," I doubt if he will let me take it off his hands ;) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dick-Kelsey/103596729694546?sk=info It's like if Mary Blair and I decided to hang out together in the Thunderdome. The coolest find ever. I purchased a vintage hawaiian album and noticed it was signed and given to a friend. after reading the 5 page insert and noticing the album was not for sale and a promo piece,I then noticed the person that wrote the note inside to a friend was the band leader and vocal supervisor Ken Darby. Who? So the only guy who didn't actually play on the album was the only guy who signed it...
tedtiki: Since I just got the UA Hawaii map with the tiki frame a few weeks ago, that decanter is my new holy grail. Nice score! I hope you paid $8 for it too... Buzzy Out! |

I saw the one ted got on ebay a while back- went for huge money and the drum decanter is on ebay now. It keeps getting relisted, probably due to the price. (buy-it-now) but it too has the original box, so ted, if you read this and want to add to your collection, grab it. actually- i just looked at the listing and noticed it's local pick up only - in hawaii. too bad you didn't check ebay before you left for hawaii.... you could have picked this up while you were there as well... Very pleased to find this Ren Clark "Virgin's Lament" mug in an antique mall yesterday. I'll be pushing aside a few "Tiki Leilani's" to make room for her.

Hi there, I am new to the collecting of Tiki Culture Artifacts. I found this website because i really like Exotica music and started lurking. Anyway, I got interested in the collecting angle because of threads like this. I went on my first hunt today in Fort Worth, Texas, and came home with this tiki fork and spoon. I know that there are a bunch of different makers of this item. Does anyone know some specifics about this particular fork and spoon set; i.e., manufacturer and date range? There are zero maker's marks on these. Also, any tips on cleaning these items? Mahalo! [ Edited by: The Quiet Village 2012-03-17 17:54 ] |

I few items over a couple weekends. A painting/serigraph(?) with hand painted flowers and lava lava on board of two wahine by Bunnell. 24" x 32" Guessing it is Charles Ragland Bunnell. Bunnell was born in 1897. The same year Gauguin started his "Where Do We Come PNG story board. ETR |

With both the Friends Of the Library 10,000 LP records sale & the Hawaii Collector's One-Day Wiki Wiki sale happening this weekend, there were plenty of treasures to be had...but my pockets are pretty empty these days, so I have only a few meager things to add.... This tiki necklace (CoCo Joe) And several records of interest, which I posted under the "Show Us Your Record Collection" thread. |

This is a special page for sure. I didn't even know that the Spurlin existed. Thank you for the photos. We were at the Tonga Hut and Don the Beachcomers this weekend. We had the best time hanging out with SoccerTiki, WooHooWahini, HB Tiki and his wife Margee. We bought a lot of beautiful new tikis but we did find one vintage tiki. bigbrotiki was at my side when I bought it. Anyone have information? Wendy |
