I don't get to post here very often but thought this was worthy. I found this mosaic at an Antique store. Boy was it dirty. Windex and a toothbrush did a great job of cleaning it up. I admit that I embelished it a little. There was an awkward line at the bottom where the water met the shore so I added some crushed glass that I had left over from a DIY project.
It measures 12in x 32in.

With and without flash.

edited because I realized it's not really tiki. A couple degrees removed I guess,it's related to the Moai Mosaic. Looks like the same kit but couldn't find it in the catalog. Perhaps I'll find a Tiki to glue on there.
Sorry for the faux pas. I won't let it happen again. Please don't blast me. :)

Not very often I get to post in this thread, since 'Tiki; is mainly a mail order business when you are from the UK...

Here's a few items I picked up from the same Antiques centre:

A very large and heavy tome on South Sea Arts

A pair of Amber fishing floats, joined by rope - approx 6" diameter

A carved Maori warrior - approx 9" tall and highly detailed

Was very happy to get the Maori, since i had seen it before on the same sellers stall for three times the eventual price.

One side of this carving looks like something Little Lost Tiki Ken Ruzic would carve and the other side is all hieroglyphs. It's a small carving 8"x3".

Tikilongbeach, awesome find. The board depicts the Easter Island Birdman cult. The cult came into being after the ancestor worship which gave rise to the carving of the Moai. The back represents the Rongorongo writing of Easter Island which has never been successfully deciphered. Great piece, thanks for sharing it.

Thank you, that was very helpful! It was a Goodwill find and I was very happy to add it to my collection.
I'm going to read up on the Birdman cult on the Bradshaw Foundation website. Do you have any other suggestions? http://www.bradshawfoundation.com/easter/index.php

Moai looking Tikis on these 2007 Vans from the 25th Anniversary of the Triple Crown of Surfing.
Haven't seen these pop up anywhere before.

Picked this up from eBay, I like the rustic style of it.

And a new piece of GECKO art, da man has layers of talent!

I hope I'm not way off base with this post-I did a "search" here on TC and found nothing about an Oceanic Arts/TikiDiablo collaboration reproducing the cobra fang mug. They used the Spurlin molds that Bob has had for years to create 100 mugs in the original green glaze and Danny made 10 (ten) in a kinda muddled green/brown mat finish. Very cool imho. I'm posting em here cuz my TikiQueen bought one of each and put them on our coffee table where I "Found" them. Hope this is not old news.
Cheers

Dusty- not at a paper show, I wish.

Although the Al Harrington stuff is clearly 70s period and I don't collect that stuff much, (and the handled Tiki mug is butt-ugly), I did get one of those glasses:

Because not only is Al surrounded by four Ku's,...

...the border of the glass looks like Tahitian Tiki poles to me...

....and, as a first, our South Pacific Man sports some really stylin' Tiki bell bottoms! :)

Besides doing his Polynesian shows, Al also acted in Hawaii-5-0:

Just found these Trade Winds Moai mugs at a thrift store.

This little collection is from the last 4-6 weeks.

I know it's the wrong thread, but if anybody has any info on this guy, it would be greatly appreciated.

Just for kicks...gold sheen obsidian tiki of South American origin

Tiki David, you have the score of the year with that haul!

I was fortunate enough to see some original stuff from the Portland Kon Tiki at Hale Pele. They have the Three Cannibals, which are stunning.

Well, we had a great trip to Portland
When I get home ill load up this area with photos of "finds"
Last day here
Thought I'd hit one more place
And I'm glad I did

Could it get any better?

Could it????

???????

I couldn't think if a better way to end the trip...

Nice recent finds, especially Tiki David's scores. Here my humble finds from this weekend garage sales.
I found the larger war club that appears to be vintage tourist but I am not sure. It has a nice patina to it. The smaller tourist club was purchased for me by my niece when she went to New Zealand last year.

I found this war club on the internet claiming it was vintage. It appears to be an exact match of mine.

From the same seller, I purchased these two war clubs:

I believe them to be of PNG origins. A check on the internet found this war club which is very similar to one of mine. The site had this to say about that war club:
A Mt. Hagen presentation axe (di kurugu). Of the type used for trade, bride price, and public ceremony, with plaited rattan and yellow orchid binding, and removable greenstone blade. Though found in the Mt.Hagen area, such axes are typically made by the people of the Jimi Valley, Papua New Guinea. This example measures 24"H x 21.50"W, is in very fine condition aside from minor nicks and stains to the original stone blade, and comes from a European private collection, circa 1960's.

Here's a picture of their war club.

Last purchase from that seller. A Moai with a body. Couldn't find anything on this on the internet.
Has some nice carving on the backside. Made of stone and is very heavy.

Found this slim style 3 faced mug yesterday! :)

Call me curious, who was the seller? That looks like a bad bad pull of an original carving from Rapa Nui that a friend has...
