Picked up this sad tiki bar from a private seller on Facebook for $20. They even threw in a couple tiki torches. It's rotten from years of outdoor exposure, and falling apart, but I'm hoping to make use of whatever parts are salvageable. |

That's one of Tiki Diablo's bars from home depot. I think they only made them for one season, about 2 years ago. |

Makes sense. I wish the carvings were solid wood, and not bamboo ply. The little tiki face in the center is about the only thing that isn't delaminating |

Tikitube, a bar exactly like that one just popped up on the San Antonio CL on Saturday. Talk about coincidence! |

Texas is a wasteland for classic tiki--for some reason, the home bar craze never took root here during the 50s and 60s. No basements, I suppose. So I got excited Friday when I learned there was an estate sale a couple towns over featuring a tiki bar area. Unfortunately, the sale started on Friday, so the really great stuff was gone before I got there Saturday. Even then, some cool stuff had already been set aside that morning (some of which I've already seen posted to the Austin CL). Regardless, I was able to abscond with a modest haul of tiki materials. I'm still kinda shocked that punch bowl set was still there. It's dusty and needs to be cleaned up, but apart from one cup that has a crack in it, it's in excellent condition. |

Friday I went to a sale off of Craigslist that had tiki stuff listed. I got a good deal on some things and made a new tiki friend.

I'd be eyeing this set of Matson menus on Etsy for some time, and finally decided to get them during a sale last week. I plan on scanning them and posting to the Matson Cruise Lines Collection thread soon. |

I went on the Friday and was VERY close to picking up that punch set. It's massive and I just really don't have a place to keep it. I walked away with plenty of other goodies including some mugs, a few outdoor statues, the bar and an Orchids lamp. Needs some major clean up. The whole inside was covered with mud dauber nests. I figured you would've been there on Friday, Mike, with all the MCM they had. Glad somebody was able to get those pieces (and that Orchids lamp!) who would appreciate them. Was that bar commercially produced, or a home built job? I still have twinges about not grabbing that Siesta Ware glass set, but life's full of compromises. |

Not sure. If it's custom/homemade it was very well built. I'd venture to say the cloth panels were definitely added in recent years and the bar appears to be older. A lot of the stain on the bamboo is chipping away. In a dimly lit bar it probably wouldn't be noticeable but silly me, I started dissecting the bar, pulling each piece of bamboo off and stripping it. And now that I've started there's no turning back. Oh boy what have I gotten myself into!? It probably would have been less time, money and work to build it from scratch. |

I was heading to our other home in Bullhead AZ this past Sunday. I stopped at a yard sale on the way to the freeway. My jaw dropped when I saw a box of six of these vintage tiles. The owners said they were hanging in an atrium of a home they bought twenty years ago. They have crazing but they are beautiful. Making my ride to Bullhead even more enjoyable. |

Crazing is just a built-in voucher for "vintage." Great find. I've never seen a jade tile in Texas--in the wild or captivity! |

Found this in Pismo Beach last weekend. It was our 5th anniversary weekend. This Spurlin Vicious Virgin was the second best part. We got to see Humpbacks swim and frolic all day long from our room. :) Oh, I left behind a Tiki Bob, Don the Beachcomber Coconut, and a Mai Kai shrunken head...all in great shape...so if you are in Pismo....just sayin' |

Found this six footer at a patio furniture store. This tiki was part of the decor there and had sat on concrete in the sun for the past two or three years. It’s a well weathered piece. but not a bit of rot. I intend to give it a good coat of sealer and place it where you see it in the following pix. It’s wired to a patio support. |

While getting my oil changed this weekend, I scoped out the flea market across the street and found this Kon Tiki Ports ashtray. There was also one from the Hotel Saraha’s Don the Beachcomber, but I didn’t really care for its design and passed it up. |

Some of the new stuff I got last few weeks: 6 foot tall PNG shield on a metal stand 2 10 foot long outriggers. I made the outrigger parts and put these in The Reef Reef Bar Palm Springs patio boat 1 boat 2 Framed Maori resin set Fiji placemat set Magee's resin tiki Wood stuff. More reference I found a few netless floats and buoys, so I started tying Asian long line nets for them And finally, I bought this cheap boat n a bottle because I intended on netting it, but I noticed it was made from business cards, so I'm keeping it as is Buzzy Out! |
