I'd like to thank Don aka Tiki Shaker for giving me the heads up on this plate. He sent me a PM about a sale that had another one of the little bali hai plates that I have, except this one was black and gold vs white and gold. Of course I didn't get the PM until sunday, after the sale was in its 3rd day. I figured it was gone and I wasn't gonna drive 2+ hours to find out. My dad convinced me to call the sale. Normally estate sale people are jerks, but I guess luck was on my side, because not only were they nice, the plate was still there, and they offered to ship it to me. So I now own 2 of these weird bali hai plates.... |

I saw that little guy on the left at an antique mall in Tulsa (presumably where you found it) when I was there last month but passed on him. I think the price tag said it was Witco but it didn't seem legit to me. Maybe I'm wrong. Same mall had another vendor with TONS of tiki stuff including a Steve Crane ku mug for some insane price like $250. I woulda bought a ton of stuff from him but it was all priced well over retail so I left empty handed. |

Picked up a bunch of paperwork today. The people kept every piece of paper from there oahu/kauai trip. I love the airlines place mat. I knew this castaways/ports o' call/ pieces of eight menu was sought after, (i wish it was in better shape) but after looking on ebay at what they are selling for I was shocked. It may have to be sold to fund something else I'd rather have. lol This menu was interesting. Captains Table from twin Falls Idaho. I looked up the address (its a used car lot now). Seems like it would have been a Nautical place, but on Friday and Saturday it apparently had "hawaiian nights" with dinner and a floor show from the Hinano polynesian review. Somebody wrote 1978 on the menu. |

Unca T, I like the graphics from back in the day. For that reason I snagged this some years back. Still has the mix in it although I had absolutely no intention of sampling it. I got fooled though-It ’s not vintage. The barcode on the reverse gave it away. |

Just found this guy in an antique store in Stillwater MN yesterday (I don't live in MN, was up visiting my sister and dropping in at Psycho Suzi's of course). He is signed "Corky B. 1957" on the bottom. Apparently the seller knew that the B stands for Brondersen, which sounds like a good Swedish name from Minnesota, and fittingly this is the finest mid century modern Tiki I've ever seen. Anybody know who this Corky is? I love this design and it is really well executed (out of what appears to be a fine grained soft wood 4x4). Nice dark finish, |

Hey fellow tikiphiles! Haven't posted for awhile because I've been STUPID busy, though I've had tons of great tiki finds in the interim. Thought I'd poke my head in because I can't seem to identify todays finds. First is this unmarked coconut.
Standard mat brown glaze, white gloss interior, and like I said, no markings. Has pretty good texture to it, which continues on the base. Thought at first it might be an OMC with the sticker washed off, but the OMC looks like it has a wider mouth, at least from the Ooga Mooga pics. Don't have one in my collection so I can't compare. Any thoughts? 2nd find was this skull mug.
It's obviously based on the Trader Vics pointy chin, which it is just as obviously not. Thought it might be a Tiki Farm, but the detail is much crisper, and the teeth holes are in the wrong place. Also, no markings. While I'm at it, found this guy a little while back. Menehune? EDIT Okay, just after I posted this, I noticed the TINY script on his buttock, saying it is a Coco Joe, like I thought. I guess my new old man glasses work! Any way, hope to see everyone at Tiki Kon next week. Cheers! [ Edited by: Teadoir 2016-07-01 12:25 ] |

ukutiki we had one of those years ago. I got it from eBay. Someone said the guy made them for a party. We don't have ours any more but I remember it as being the same colors but a different face. I think each one is hand made. =========================== We had one of the greatest finds ever. In 20 years of collecting we had never seen this cookie jar. We had the shakers but that was it. Anyone else out there have one of these? We also found this bowl that made a nice collection of three colors. Anyone have a fourth color? Our last find was a tiki pole like those at the Crowne Plaza in San Diego. Four faces. It's been a great month of hunting. Cheers, Wendy |

I found one earlier this year, and having never seen it before either, I bought it. Then I sold it a couple weeks later at ITMP. A couple days after I sold it, I found another one. I didn't want it, but told Mattikiman about it and he came and grabbed it. I think he's keeping his matchbooks in it. Good size for that Other than those, only yours. |

Bay Park Buzzy you are such a great hunter. Could we come visit you the week before Oasis starts. We want to ogle your collection. PM your phone number and address please. ModernArtifactsNY Dan was so happy to have all this information that he had me print it so he could put it into the cookie jar. If we had found those that Buzzy got we would have taken them all! It's just so much fun to see something new out of the blue. Cheers, Wendy |

This week's stuff: Very happy with this 3' PNG mask for $15! The smallest of my Tahitian knife dagger thingy collection 4 matchbooks Never had one of these before. Sticker on bottom says "PAC Japan" 8 mugs that remind me of late 2006 and 2007, because that's when I used to see all these new all over the place:
PS you might want to pencil in a little bit of looking time over here. Under the tiki stuff, Dan's going to find some other stuff he likes: Buzzy Out! |

Went to my local Total Wine (Brea, Calif. for some silver rum and to my surprise they had tiki mugs for sale. Only one style and color. I liked em and bought two @8 bucks. whenever I shop there the checkout clerk asks if I found everything that I was looking for. I always say no, where are the tiki mugs. This usually gets me a quizzical stare. Maybe there will be more in the future. Hint, hint Holden. [ Edited by: nui 'umi 'umi 2016-07-03 23:47 ] |
