If you do that, I suggest that you get a notebook and keep track of the Leilanis as you adopt them. Number them and note who brought them in. I would keep a Sharpie pen on hand and get the TC'ers to autograph the bottoms as they turn them in on a drink. By the way, are you going to set a limit??? I think it might be a cheap way for some folks to drink if they get to turn in an unlimited number of them!!!! Sure sound like fun though.

Anyway, this was my tiki haul for christmas. Between christmas gifts, thrift store finds, and stuff bought with christmas money while I was home with family, I had a hell of a haul. This, of course, doesn't include all the spoon and fork sets I found, or the new mugs I ordered. After my new mugs, I think I'm up to about 110 or something. Not much at all, but I've only been collecting for a year. Frankentiki Mug Set Pineapple Salt and Pepper Shakers Politically incorrect shot glasses Suck Em UP Hawaii Shot Glass All the mugs from my last post A volcano bowl from Kowloon. Crappy modern one Bosko Mug Tiki Farm Mr Bali Hai Two Polynesian Village Mugs HIP Tall tiki, 3 bro's tiki statues Parrot Mug Sumo Wrestler Mug 3 Samurai Grog mugs Fu Manchu Mug 2 panda mugs Tepco handled mug Pressed glass shaker with recipies on top 3 various geisha benihaha style mugs And of course, 3 sets of tiki fork and spoons, 1 design I've never seen before. All and all, with the witco piece I sold, and whatnot, I think it was a hell of a Tiki Christmas for me!

My husband and 3 friends wanted to take me out and show me a good time before my surgery on Tuesday, which will put me on the sidelines for a bit. First off we went tiki hunting. I found several good records, a small coco Joe and several old books.The big find was a velvet painting under glass marked down to 15 dollars. It has this at the bottom of the picture LONG.AN.V.N Then a signature I can't read. Anybody know what that means?That's a big find for me here in the midwest, without having to go into the city and paying a lot more. This trip was followed up by dinner at Chef Shangri-la(bought a few glass tiki mugs) and drinks at Hala Kahiki with a stop into their gift shop where I picked up some TV drink mixers and a hula bowl and a couple of coco joe key chains. But pickin's around these parts is sparce. So I snatched this bad boy right up. I have never seen one of these as a cork. I know you can make them, but this one, from the looks of it, was manufactured this way. It has the number 62 pressed onto the backside of it. It looks to be brand new and never used. Hey Virani, you forgot to mention that the first 3 Tikis are based on the Zizou Bar/Les Tikis CD cover (...and the photo in the TAHITI book...and the Mary Blair painting I know.) They are spectacular, especially the 2nd one. Please colorxerox them for my Tiki Modern research.

Recently, though, Dale's co-workers started finding stuff for us, and they "gives us luck". Exhibit A: PMP mugs, $4.50 for the pair. Exhibit B: This bowl, which is a little bigger than usual, was given to Dale one day at work. It was 50 cents with another item...25 cents for bowl, not bad. They didn't know if it was Tiki or "alien" so they were a little hesitant to get it for us. Of course we assured them they can keep bringing us this sort of stuff. So, one day, Exhibit C appears: 50 cents. They weren't sure if it was Tiki but they brought it, anyway. So - thanks Michelle & Jeremy! Ran P.S. - look in Beyond Tiki for another thrift store find. My friend was drawn in by the pretty lamps which was all you could see from the street, which were neither vintage nor collectible. Go figure. This OMC Hawaii Kai "peanut guy" mug cost me a whopping buck! I know he's not ultra rare or anything but when you've been dying to get your hands on anything slightly tiki related and you come across this, you feel as if you hit the jackpot! Maybe the slump is over!
