This was given to me yesterday, and I cannot find any information on it aside from what is printed on the decal on the back. It's from the Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City, and as far as I can tell, I have the first one on Ooga-Mooga. Anyone? |

It was a good day for thrifting here in Arkansas...found a Hot Buttered Rum mug from Trader Vic's, and two frosted mugs from the Polynesian Resort. Also happy to pick up this late 50s clock by Telechron/GE. It needs a little cleanup work, and isn't really tiki, but it keeps time and for only $3 I like it. |

Stopped at Hobby Lobby today and found this hibiscus plate for 50% off. There was one (ugly cartoonish) tiki and a lot of pineapple themed things, too, in case anyone else is interested and wants to check one’s local store. |

A colorful Kauai telephone book from 1972 with a few restaurants with tiki clip art And a nearly four foot tiki wall hanging that looks like it's from the school of carving that took place in front of the old International Marketplace and the early to mid 2000's. |

Took a road trip in the area this week and found a TV menu, a cool old guide to collecting fishing floats, a Squid/Thor bowl, and some other some stuff. Tis "tiki bell" is really cool, but I love the label even more: Legendary Polynesian Bells of Romance and Adventure!
Also found this Sascha Brastoff jar with lid. Anyone know anything about this one? Not finding anything here on TC or any examples for sale on ebay. |

Long time since I last posted - Tiki mugs seem to be drying up in the thrift stores. Or maybe that bastard Brandomoai is finding them all first. Happy to find this Moai mug from Johnny Quong's Hawaiian, Salt Lake City. -Sweet Daddy T. [ Edited by: Sweet Daddy Tiki 2018-06-30 23:49 ] |

last couple weeks of stuff: some Tiki farm and a KC mug Trio of PNG carvings. I think the matching pair is Tobirand(sp) Islands. I like the skinny face carve on the center one 5 x 7' piece of tapa. Its a nice thick one with no flaws. Bought it off an African vendor who told me it was "Elephant Cloth" I bought the laminated Matson Eugene Savage menu art, and made the frame for it. Buzzy Out! |

Spent a little time in Asbury Park, NJ today and visited a couple of antique stores. I walked out with some tiki stuff: Mugs: and a mask: The Fog Cutter mug is labelled as Trader Vic's. I don't know the heritage of this mug, if it's old or more recent. Ooga Mooga isn't too forthcoming. The bottom looks like this: The tiki leilani mug has no location inscribed, except for the bottom that says "USA": I also saw a pair of Dynasty Mara Amu Mai Kai mugs, but they said "Made in China" so I figured they were recent and I passed. I'll post some other images of the 4th mug in the "identify this" thread. [ Edited by: Pelorus 2018-07-02 18:10 ] |

Two pieces I saw but didn't buy: A carved tiki, about 1.5 feet tall. Heavy.
It's at the Point Pavilion Antique Centre in Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ (Arnold Avenue). They were asking $125 for it. The same place had an interesting decanter from Samoa: |

Two mugs in less than a week - things are looking up. Got this today at Value Village: A contemporary mug by Dave "Squid" Cohen for Earl's, a restaurant chain that's mostly in Alberta and B.C. (with some other Canadian locations and a few in the States). The parrot is a nod to the papier maché parrots that used to decorate the restaurants in the early 80s. Originally used to serve a drink called the Tiki Torch, this year they've been used for Pain Killers (I haven't tried either, but I hear the Tiki Torch was pretty decent. -Sweet Daddy T. Been doing lots of hunting, but not too many finds this season. Some highlights from area flea markets: A contemporary Germaine's Luau mug A pile of shell leis, mostly from Tahiti (or so the seller claimed) A collection of nice, BIG shells including a couple conchs, one of which... ...has been turned into a horn! I love the sound this thing makes. A good, pure tone, not unlike a trumpet. Thinking of modifying the other shells if they're suitable so I have a bunch of different tones. |

I've made the conscious decision to stop buying Maori stuff, as i just have so much of it already and it's actually my least favourite style of Tiki. However, if i see something really unusual that i haven't seen before at a fair price then i'll grab it. Like this awesome door knocker i found yesterday. I do have a small metal one but i've never seen one like this made out of wood. |

I can only assume these were given out to patrons to do cocaine in the bar. Matches for smokers, mirrors for coke dudes...makes sense! The Big T, we have collected a lot of Sasha Brastoff items. I've never seen this one before but my guess is that it would hold a pack of cigarettes. He did so many ashtrays and this would go well with them. Swizzle that is unique. Wendy |

Just catching up here, since I was on vacation through BC and Saskatchewan. While on vacation we actually went to the Earls in Kelowna and picked up this mug direct from the source. It did come with a Painkiller that was actually quite good. Between the Painkillers there and at the Shameful Tiki Room, I'm now a pretty big Painkiller fan :) |

Few finds this summer in my french flea market and state sale road trip: 29 mts long antique rope! Bamboo serving tray and "fake" bamboo coat hanger: Red buoy, kitsch nautical lamp, another rattan serving tray, sea shell ceramic ashtray, couple of swizzles, small bamboo mirror, ceramic planter pot, small basket from Bali and a small antique wooden barrel. two hand carved stones that are not 100% tiki but cool enough for our garden. They were carved about 60 years ago from this old man that working restoring castles and in his free time he carved this little decorative stones: |

When I was in Calgary, Alberta last year visiting family the Earls said the mugs were not for sale because they didn't have enough and kept disappearing (field collectors!!!!). I wonder if they've gotten more in, or if it's just a per-site policy? [ Edited by: Joshua Bell 2018-08-04 12:34 ] |
