On the edge of tiki - paint-by-numbers tropic scene ($1, had to throw out glass frame as it was moldy!)

Outer edge of tiki - Hot Wheels car -

A little off the tiki radar (should be in the 'drinks & food' area, I s'pose; BUT has recipes calling for rum - not many in those days, comparatively) -

(from 1939; Wood cover, screened paint on burned-in image)

TikiRoyale... Don't know anyone really on the T.C. I haven't been around that long. Always interested in meeting new people and getting/giving new ideas. I cruise the S.A. looking for tiki and now my compulsion is so deep I have begun pointing out Tiki to my wife and children. In movies, magazines, grocery stores ahhhg!
My 1st tiki score was a liquidated warehouse of rain forest display props. Palm trees, fake plants, thatch and grass, carved, hand painted parrots, giant fake rocks. More stuff was thrown away than I could take and that's probably a good thing for my marriage.
Second score was really this fountain and a couple mugs and small block carvings collected from the thrift. This fountain is really in remarkable shape. Original finish and hardly any chips or gouges. Right now it's in my garage looking not to fierce, which is a good thing or my 3yr old son would probably have acted out a Batman episode on it.
BTW does anyone know the best stain color to match up/touch up the original finish??? Looks kinda like a mahogany/ebony color to me.

Cool. I've found that exact same paint-by-numbers, Twitch. It's definitely going in the home tiki bar (whenever it's built).

My Goodwill finds..."Big Balls Bear" Husband laughs each time I pick one up.

Also been picking up alot of Monkey Pod lately..

Marwal bust.

Duffy bartenders guide 1940.

Tahitian Village matches.

And the best find, Witco cat. Total chunk of change on all. Less than fifty bucks.

Here is a bizarre kids record I got recently, Sea of Glub

The gatefold is cool with a a map of hawaii, I love the family riding the dolphins

It came with game pieces and tikis!

I love the drawing of the authors on the back, very Dan Clowes.

Found a few things on a day trip north of KC:

nice little barrel mug from Harvey's, needs a little cleaning.

unmarked sandwich stick, Trader Vic's maybe?

And just got this a few hours ago; United Airlines 25th Aniversary tiki! WAY COOL!

What is this creature? It looks Indonesian to me. Should have taken the picture from the other side. There is a red thread "earring" hanging from a nail in his left ear. It's the same thread that you see in the pic. There is metal that is tapped and pinned to his face also.

Signature? I ain't signin nothin!

Psycho,

That circle "I" looks like a University of Illinois emblem. I have seen a lot of those brown droopy mugs with college-related labeling. My guess is that these mugs were sold as custom-printed promotional items - the one I have was apparently printed up for an island-themed fraternity party.

I had a field day at the local flea market this weekend. I struck tiki gold. I got everything for $55.

Two Wooden Mugs, A coco Joe's menehune, cast Hawaiian figure, and a Trader Dick's mug.

A Stockton Islander mug, and two Harvey's sneaky tikis.

Two Trader Dick's Moai. Poor glazing.

A cool old Fu Manchu and a Trader Dick's surfer girl.

My first thought was Samoan, but I am invariably wrong about these things.

You are correct.

This design is used by a few promotional imprinting companies for anyone who can afford it. I was looking into making a few, but the lowest quantity is something like 72. I don't know that many people who would want one of those. But here's a link to the site: http://www.promotionalproducts.net/drinkware_tiki.htm
